Belmont Cameli’s girlfriend, television writer Raina Morris, has asked fans of the popular series Off Campus to respect her family’s privacy and stop contacting her relatives.
Morris, who has been in a relationship with the 28-year-old actor for about a year, recently found herself receiving unexpected attention after the Prime Video show became a major hit. As Cameli’s popularity grew, Morris also began attracting interest from fans who wanted to know more about his personal life. However, she made it clear that the attention had gone too far when some supporters started reaching out to members of her family.
On July 14, Morris posted two separate messages on her Instagram Stories addressing the situation. In her first message, she acknowledged that she appreciated the enthusiasm of Off Campus viewers but asked them to stop involving people close to her.
“If you’re a fan of my boyfriend: Yay!” Morris wrote. “But please stop messaging my family members. They are extremely confused.”
She then jokingly suggested that fans find another way to express their excitement rather than contacting people they did not personally know. “Write it in your diary and then go for a walk instead! Love you,” she added.
For her second post, Morris used humor to make her point. She shared a meme featuring actress Gillian Jacobs’ character from the comedy series Community. The original joke referenced a line from the show in which Jacobs’ character said, “I can excuse racism, but I draw the line at animal cruelty.” Morris edited the quote to fit her own situation, changing it to: “I can excuse racism, but I draw the line at DMing my distant cousins.”
This was not the first time Morris had spoken publicly to clear up misunderstandings involving Off Campus fans. Since viewers began following her social media accounts, she has occasionally addressed rumors and explained situations that were being misunderstood online.
In May, fans noticed that Morris had stopped following Ella Bright, the actress who plays Belmont Cameli’s romantic partner in the series. Some viewers immediately speculated about the reason behind the social media change, but Morris explained that the unfollow was simply an accident.
She shared a screenshot of her text conversation with Bright, showing that there was no conflict between them. Morris even joked about the possibility of entertainment news outlets noticing the situation, writing, “I hope TMZ doesn’t notice.”
Later, Morris posted a selfie on her Instagram Stories with a message asking fans to leave both her and Bright alone. According to a fan account, Bright responded positively to the post, showing that the two women have a close friendship.
“Leave me and my homegirl alone,” Morris wrote. “Please and thank you, that’s my best friend.”
Earlier in July, Bright also discussed her friendship with Morris during an appearance on the podcast In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele. The 19-year-old actress spoke warmly about Morris, describing her as “perfect and beautiful” and calling her “my angel on Earth.”:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(590x644:592x646):format(webp)/Belmont-Camelis-Girlfriend-Tells-Off-Campus-Fans-to-Stop-Messaging-My-Family-071526-98d75db1b7c94b5f8af14a0245a99144.jpg)
During the interview, Bright also addressed ongoing fan speculation about whether she and Cameli might have a romantic relationship outside of the show. Because their characters have a strong connection on screen, some viewers began wondering if the chemistry between them continued in real life. Bright admitted that she understood why fans might make those assumptions, but she also found the speculation unusual.
“I totally get it, but it is so weird,” she explained.
Bright emphasized that her relationship with Cameli is completely platonic and compared their bond to that of siblings. She described him as “literally my brother” and said she had not personally followed much of the online discussion about their relationship, although she was aware that fans were talking about it.
“I love him so much, but yeah, it’s very funny,” she said.
The actress also explained that the close friendship between her and Cameli developed naturally while working together on Off Campus. Before filming began, the two actors met during chemistry auditions, where they immediately connected. They exchanged phone numbers afterward and remained friends throughout production.
Bright said that spending long hours together on set helped strengthen their friendship. Because filming schedules often required them to work extremely long days — sometimes 15 or 16 hours at a time — building trust and comfort with one another was essential.
“When you spend that much time with someone on set, you have to become really good friends,” she explained. Bright added that she greatly respects Cameli and looks up to him both professionally and personally.
The growing popularity of Off Campus has brought increased attention not only to its cast members but also to the people around them. While fans’ excitement has helped the show gain success, Morris’ request highlights the importance of maintaining boundaries between public figures and their private lives.
Both Morris and Bright have expressed appreciation for the support surrounding the series, but they have also encouraged fans to remember that actors and their loved ones deserve personal space away from online speculation.
As the show continues gaining viewers, Morris hopes fans will continue supporting Cameli and the cast while also respecting the privacy of those who are not part of the entertainment industry. Her message is simple: enthusiasm is welcome, but contacting unrelated family members crosses a line.
