Sam Worthington has revealed that he almost missed out on starring in one of Netflix’s biggest television successes of the year, admitting that it was his wife who ultimately convinced him to take the project seriously.

The actor leads I Will Find You, Netflix’s adaptation of Harlan Coben’s bestselling novel, portraying David Burroughs, a man serving a prison sentence after being convicted of murdering his young son. As the story unfolds, David discovers evidence suggesting his child may still be alive, launching a desperate mission to uncover the truth and clear his name.

The eight-episode thriller quickly became one of Netflix’s standout releases of 2026, drawing millions of viewers during its opening weekend and earning widespread attention for its relentless twists and emotional storytelling.

Looking back on how he became involved, Worthington admitted that the opportunity first caught his wife’s attention rather than his own.

According to the actor, she had long been a fan of Harlan Coben’s novels and immediately encouraged him to speak with the producers.

Worthington recalled questioning why he should take the meeting before his wife gave him a simple answer.

While Worthington was eager to perform as many of his own stunts as possible, another major film franchise prevented him from doing so.

The actor revealed that contractual obligations connected to James Cameron’s Avatar films significantly limited what he was allowed to attempt physically during filming.

Worthington joked that he repeatedly told producers he was willing and prepared to perform dangerous action scenes himself.

However, the production team reminded him that Disney and the Avatar franchise could not risk him suffering an injury before future installments of Cameron’s blockbuster series.

As a result, several action sequences had to be handled differently than Worthington originally hoped.
