“STOPPED AT THE GATE BY A PATROL OFFICER AND THREATENED WITH ARREST FOR ‘IMPERSONATION’… NO ONE EXPECTED THE DISMISSED WOMAN WAS ACTUALLY AN INTERNAL AFFAIRS INSPECTOR ON A SECRET INVESTIGATION — AND THE TRAP SNAPPED SHUT RIGHT BEFORE EVERYONE’S EYES” “I gave you one last chance to call your superior and save your job… but your ego was too big.” The words cut through the cold morning air outside Precinct 12. Jordan Hayes stood upright, her uniform perfectly pressed, her gaze calm but razor-sharp. Fifteen years in the force had taught her she didn’t need to raise her voice to command authority. Across from her stood Ryan Keller — arms crossed, eyes filled with mockery, as if she were nothing more than a joke. Jordan clenched her jaw slightly, steadying her breath. She had encountered too many men like him throughout her career. “Officer Keller, I think you should reconsider how you’re speaking,” she said evenly. He let out a dry, irritated laugh. “Reconsider? I don’t know what costume party you think you’re in, but police work is for real officers.” Jordan’s fingers brushed lightly against her chest pocket — where her gold badge and Internal Affairs credentials rested, heavy like a warning. She had come here for a surprise inspection. And he… was exactly why. Jordan pulled out her ID. But Ryan didn’t even look. Instead, he slapped her hand down. “I don’t need to see fake IDs, sweetheart.” The word sweetheart landed like a slap. The air shifted. A few people slowed down. Phones came out. Eyes gathered. Two more officers stepped in, positioning themselves on either side of Jordan as if she were a dangerous suspect. “Put your hands where I can see them!” Ryan barked, stepping closer. He was actually going to arrest her. For impersonating an officer. For… being who she was. Jordan slowly raised her hands. The familiar sting of humiliation crept in — but this time, it mixed with a cold anger so sharp it made everything around her feel clearer than ever. She didn’t resist. Didn’t explain further. She just stood there. Letting him walk all the way down his mistake. “On your knees!” Ryan ordered. Murmurs spread through the crowd. “She looks like a cop…” someone whispered. “Must be fake, look how they’re handling her.” Jordan knelt. But her eyes… never dropped.

“I gave you one last chance to call your superior and save your job… but your ego was too big.”

The words rang out in the cold morning air outside Precinct 12.

Jordan Hayes stood upright, her uniform perfectly pressed, her gaze calm but razor-sharp. Fifteen years in the force had taught her she didn’t need to raise her voice to apply pressure.

Across from her stood Ryan Keller — arms crossed, eyes filled with mockery, as if she were nothing more than a joke.

Jordan tightened her jaw slightly, steadying her breath. She had encountered far too many men like him throughout her career.

“Officer Keller, I think you should reconsider how you’re speaking,” she said evenly.

“Reconsider? I don’t know what costume party you think you’re in, but police work is for real officers.”

Jordan’s fingers brushed lightly against her chest pocket — where her gold badge and Internal Affairs credentials rested, heavy like a warning.

She was here for a surprise inspection.

And he… was exactly why.

Jordan pulled out her ID.

But Ryan didn’t even glance at it.

Instead, he slapped her hand down.
“I don’t need to see fake IDs, sweetheart.”

The word sweetheart landed like a slap.

The air shifted.

A few people slowed down. Phones came out. Eyes gathered.

Two more officers stepped forward, positioning themselves on either side of Jordan as if she were a dangerous suspect.

“Put your hands where I can see them!” Ryan barked, stepping closer.

He was actually going to arrest her.

For impersonating an officer.

For… simply being who she was.

“Must be fake, look how they’re handling her.”

Jordan knelt.

But her eyes… never dropped.

They stayed locked on Ryan.

Calm.

Certain.

As if she already knew exactly what was about to happen next.

Ryan stepped closer, pulling out his cuffs.

“You think you can fool us?” he muttered, his voice dripping with contempt.

Jordan didn’t answer.

She simply tilted her head slightly.

As if waiting.

Then a voice cut through the tension behind them.

“That’s enough.”

Everyone turned.

A black vehicle screeched to a stop at the gate.

Two people stepped out.

One of them — a middle-aged man in a dark suit, his gaze cold as steel.

He walked straight toward them.

Looked at Ryan.

Then at Jordan.

“Ms. Hayes,” he said in a low voice.

Ryan froze.

“You know her?” he asked, suddenly less certain.

The man didn’t answer immediately.

He turned to Jordan.

“Are you alright?”

Jordan slowly rose to her feet.

Brushed the dust from her knees.

Then reached into her pocket again.

This time, she didn’t offer it to Ryan.

She held it up… for everyone to see.

INTERNAL AFFAIRS – SENIOR INVESTIGATOR

The air went still.

Ryan stepped back.

“No… that’s not possible…”

The man in the suit turned toward him.

“Officer Keller,” he said coldly, “you just attempted to detain the person investigating you.”

No one spoke.

Only the wind moved through the station gate.

And the quiet hum of phones still recording.

Jordan looked at Ryan.

There was no anger left in her eyes.

Only certainty.

“I gave you a chance,” she said.

“You chose the rest.”

But what no one had fully grasped yet…

was when the man added:

“And this… is only the beginning of the investigation.”

Ryan stood frozen.

Because in that moment, he realized—

he wasn’t the only one in that precinct being watched.
