OFF CAMPUS SEASON 2 IS ALREADY CHANGING THE STORY IN A MAJOR WAY — AND THE NEXT ROMANCE WILL LOOK VERY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT BOOK FANS EXPECTED Prime Video has officially revealed which couple is taking center stage next, but the adaptation is already rewriting the timeline in ways that could completely reshape the future of the franchise

The hockey romance craze isn’t slowing down anytime soon, and Off Campus has firmly established itself as one of the biggest streaming sensations of the year. Following the massive success of its debut season, the Prime Video original has quickly built a passionate global fanbase eager to return to Briar University and spend more time with its lovable, complicated group of hockey stars and the people who turn their lives upside down.

Adapted from Elle Kennedy’s bestselling book series, Off Campus blends sports, romance, friendship, heartbreak, and coming-of-age drama into a binge-worthy package that has resonated with longtime readers and newcomers alike. While the television adaptation has never intended to recreate the novels scene-for-scene, it has remained faithful to the emotional core that made the books so beloved.

With filming already underway and the creative team teasing plenty of surprises, anticipation for season 2 has reached another level. Here’s everything fans know so far.

One of the biggest signs of confidence in the series came months before audiences watched a single episode.

Prime Video officially renewed Off Campus for a second season in February 2026, long before the May premiere of season 1. The early renewal demonstrated the streamer’s faith in both the source material and the production team led by showrunner Louisa Levy.

At the time of the announcement, Amazon MGM Studios Head of Global Television Peter Friedlander praised the adaptation’s emotional storytelling and worldwide appeal.

He explained that the series combines compelling relationships with the high-pressure world of college hockey, creating stories that resonate far beyond sports fans. Friedlander also highlighted the chemistry among the cast, saying their performances bring authenticity to every relationship on screen.

That confidence proved justified once the series debuted.

Season 1 quickly became one of Prime Video’s strongest launches, reportedly attracting 36 million viewers during its first 12 days of release. The impressive numbers placed the show among the platform’s biggest television debuts and confirmed that the passionate fanbase surrounding Elle Kennedy’s novels had successfully transitioned to streaming.

While season 1 centered on Garrett Graham and Hannah Wells’ romance from The Deal, the next installment will spotlight another couple from the Briar University universe.

Prime Video has officially confirmed that season 2’s primary love story belongs to Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes.

Book readers know the pair eventually become the focus of The Score, the third novel in Kennedy’s original series. However, the television adaptation has deliberately rearranged the timeline.

Rather than waiting multiple seasons, Louisa Levy introduced Dean and Allie’s secret relationship during season 1, planting seeds that gradually developed into one of the show’s most intriguing subplots.

By the finale, their casual arrangement had become significantly more complicated after Dean learned about Allie’s encounter with newcomer Hunter Davenport, creating an emotional cliffhanger that will now drive the second season.

Levy has explained that she always wanted future romantic leads to appear well before their own seasons.

Instead of introducing entirely new protagonists every year, viewers already know Dean and Allie as fully developed members of the ensemble, allowing season 2 to immediately dive into their emotional journey.

Fans can also expect Garrett and Hannah to remain central figures despite no longer serving as the primary couple.

According to Levy, the show’s ensemble structure allows every major character to continue growing together rather than disappearing once their central romance concludes.

Although Off Campus follows Kennedy’s novels, the television series has never aimed for a page-by-page recreation.

Instead, the writers frequently rearrange timelines, introduce future storylines early, and occasionally invent completely new conflicts.

Hunter’s involvement with Allie is perhaps the biggest example.

That storyline does not happen in Kennedy’s books, meaning even longtime readers entered completely unknown territory by the season 1 finale.

Levy has suggested that these deviations are designed to deepen Dean’s character while establishing larger mysteries surrounding his past.

Rather than simply adapting events in chronological order, the writers are using future knowledge from the books to create more interconnected storytelling across multiple seasons.

That strategy allows surprises even for viewers who already know the novels inside and out.

Season 2 will once again feature many of the actors who helped make the first season such a success.

Mika Abdalla returns as Allie Hayes, now stepping into the leading role opposite Stephen Kalyn’s Dean Di Laurentis.

Ella Bright reprises Hannah Wells, while Belmont Cameli returns as Garrett Graham after anchoring season 1.

Antonio Cipriano is back as John Logan, with Jalen Thomas Brooks returning as John Tucker.

Several supporting players are also expected to continue expanding the Briar University world.

Meanwhile, one of the biggest additions is India Fowler, who joins as Grace Ivers.

Readers know Grace eventually becomes Logan’s love interest in The Mistake, the second novel in Kennedy’s series. Although Dean and Allie will headline season 2, Grace’s introduction strongly suggests the show is already laying groundwork for future seasons.

Levy has praised Fowler’s chemistry with Cipriano, revealing that the pair immediately impressed producers during auditions.

Hamilton star Phillipa Soo is another notable newcomer.

She joins the series in a recurring role as Scarlett, a theatre director connected to Briar University’s performing arts department, naturally placing her alongside Allie’s storyline.

One notable absence, however, will be Josh Heuston’s Justin Kohl.

Levy has confirmed the actor will not return for season 2 due to scheduling, though she hasn’t ruled out bringing the character back in future installments.

Production on season 2 began almost immediately following the promotional tour for season 1.

The cast returned to Vancouver, where filming has continued throughout 2026.

Several actors have shared updates from the set during fan events, revealing that work has progressed smoothly.

Belmont Cameli recently confirmed the production had already completed nearly two episodes while praising the quality of the upcoming scripts.

According to him, the show’s identity has become even stronger during its sophomore season, with the ensemble receiving richer material than ever before.

Jalen Thomas Brooks echoed those comments while complimenting the performances of Stephen Kalyn and Mika Abdalla as the season’s central couple.

Although Prime Video hasn’t announced an official release date, filming is expected to conclude in October.

Since season 1 wrapped production roughly seven months before its premiere, many fans believe season 2 could arrive sometime during the first half of 2027 if post-production follows a similar schedule.

One of season 1’s standout elements was its soundtrack.

From carefully selected pop songs to emotional acoustic performances, music became an essential part of the show’s identity.

While viewers should expect fewer live musical performances during season 2, the producers insist the soundtrack will remain just as important.

Levy explained that Hannah’s songwriting journey naturally required numerous live performances during season 1, while Josh’s band After Hours also contributed significantly to the musical atmosphere.

Because those storylines have shifted, live concerts will appear less frequently.

Instead, the emphasis will return to carefully chosen licensed songs and Keegan DeWitt’s original score, both of which helped define many of season 1’s emotional moments.

The cast has also teased another major pop music surprise similar to last season’s memorable Jennifer Lopez sequence, though they remain tight-lipped about which artist will be featured.

Although Prime Video has only officially ordered two seasons, the franchise appears built for longevity.

Elle Kennedy’s original Off Campus collection contains five books, with four focusing on different hockey players before the fifth reunites everyone years later.

Beyond that, Kennedy has expanded the universe with both the Briar U and Campus Diaries spin-off series.

Levy has already hinted that the television adaptation may eventually borrow elements from those additional novels, allowing the fictional universe to continue growing beyond the original stories.

Planning ahead has already influenced creative decisions.

For example, Tucker was intentionally portrayed as younger than in the books to ensure his storyline could unfold naturally if later seasons reach The Goal.

Similarly, Logan’s introduction to Grace suggests the writers are carefully positioning future romances years in advance.

With strong streaming numbers, a devoted fandom, and plenty of source material still waiting to be adapted, Off Campus appears well positioned to remain one of Prime Video’s signature young adult dramas for years to come.

For now, however, all eyes remain on Dean and Allie as they prepare to take center stage in what promises to be another emotional, romantic, and unpredictable semester at Briar University.
