“The creative differences were becoming untenable,” Patterson wrote, adding that he ultimately realized the series was no longer something he could personally support moving forward.

After comments suggested that writing Sully out had simply been part of the show’s evolving storyline, Patterson insisted the situation had been portrayed inaccurately.
