‘HOUSE OF GUINNESS’ IS BACK FOR SEASON 2 — AS NETFLIX REVIVES STEVEN KNIGHT’S BOOZY FAMILY SAGA AND THAT SHOCKING FINAL GUNSHOT LEAVES ARTHUR’S FATE HANGING IN THE BALANCE! Nearly a year after the period drama premiered, Netflix has officially renewed the series, with Knight promising “so much more” from the Guinness siblings as their relationships, ambitions and growing empire enter a new chapter that could push the family into even darker territory.

House of Guinness is coming back for another round, and Netflix has finally confirmed that the Guinness family saga will continue.

The historical drama, created by Peaky Blinders mastermind Steven Knight, premiered on Netflix in September 2025 and quickly established itself as another lavish period piece filled with family conflict, political ambition, romance, betrayal and plenty of Guinness. Nearly a year after the first season arrived, Netflix officially renewed the series for Season 2 on August 24, 2026.

That renewal is particularly exciting because the first season ended on a major cliffhanger, leaving viewers with one very important question: who exactly was Paddy Cochrane aiming at when he pulled the trigger?House of Guiness cast

The answer may already be hiding in the pages of history, but that does not make the wait for Season 2 any less intriguing.

House of Guinness follows the four adult children of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the beer baron and heir to the famous Guinness brewing dynasty. Set in 19th-century Dublin and London, the series explores what happens when a powerful family loses its patriarch and discovers that inheriting a fortune does not necessarily mean inheriting happiness.

The siblings at the heart of the story are Arthur, played by Anthony Boyle, Edward, played by Louis Partridge, Anne, played by Emily Fairn, and Ben, played by Fionn O’Shea. Their father’s death leaves each of them with a different future, determined largely by the contents of his will.

For creator Steven Knight, that inheritance was the perfect dramatic starting point.

“Here’s a deceased father deciding the fate of his children,” Knight previously explained. “The will determines the trajectory of each of those siblings.”

And none of them are particularly happy about what they receive.

That tension became the driving force of the first eight episodes, as the Guinness siblings struggled with one another while attempting to protect the family’s enormous business interests. Their personal lives became increasingly entangled with political and social upheaval, creating a story that was about far more than beer.

Now, Knight has confirmed that there is considerably more of that story left to tell.

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum after the renewal, the creator expressed his excitement about continuing the Guinness family saga and exploring how the siblings evolve.

“It was such a joy to bring the Guinness story to the screen,” Knight said, adding that he was thrilled to continue the story of one of the world’s most famous dynasties into Season 2.

For viewers, the most interesting part may be the promise that the characters will continue to change.

Knight explained that there is “so much more” to learn about the Guinness siblings and described House of Guinness as a story about a family growing up together. The first season already showed significant changes in the four brothers and sisters, and Season 2 will apparently continue that process.

“We’ll see how they grow up,” Knight said. “Even in Season 1, they change quite a bit. In Season 2, it will be interesting to see what changes and what stays the same.”

That could be especially important for Arthur Guinness.House of Guinness

Anthony Boyle’s character emerged as one of the central figures of the first season, with his ambitions extending beyond the family business and into politics. By the finale, however, his future appeared to be in serious danger.

The Season 1 ending delivered one of the show’s biggest shocks when Paddy Cochrane fired a gun while Arthur was giving a speech. The episode cut to black before revealing exactly who Paddy was targeting.

It was an extremely effective cliffhanger because the audience was left with almost no immediate answers.

Historically, however, Arthur Guinness survived for many years after the period depicted in the finale. He eventually died in 1915, meaning viewers who know the real Guinness family history can make an educated guess about what happened next.

That does not necessarily mean the series will simply follow history without surprises. Knight has already demonstrated that House of Guinness is interested in dramatizing the emotional and political circumstances surrounding these real people rather than simply recreating a historical timeline.

In fact, the creator has previously suggested that the Guinness story could potentially continue for decades.

Before Netflix officially announced the second season, Knight told ScreenRant that, in a perfect world, he would like to take the series all the way into the 20th century.

That ambition makes sense when considering the extraordinary history of the Guinness family. The dynasty remained influential for generations, and its members became involved in politics, business, philanthropy and wider British and Irish society.Louis Partridge in House of Guinness

Knight pointed out that the family repeatedly produced dramatic stories, with its members making mistakes while also accomplishing remarkable things.

“There’s enough material there to keep us going all the way,” he previously said.

For now, however, Season 2 will remain focused on the immediate aftermath of the first season.

Arthur’s political ambitions are expected to remain an important part of the story, while Edward, Anne and Ben will have their own complicated paths to navigate. The family business will continue to sit at the center of their lives, but the emotional fractures created during Season 1 are unlikely to disappear simply because the show has been renewed.

The cast also appears enthusiastic about returning.Anthony Boyle as Arthur Guinness in 'House of Guinness'.

Anthony Boyle, who plays Arthur, previously told the Mirror that he would “love to” make another season. He praised the scripts, cast and directors and said he was extremely proud of the finished series.

When Netflix finally announced the renewal on August 24, Boyle celebrated the news on Instagram with several photographs, including one of himself holding a glass of Guinness.

His message was wonderfully straightforward: “HOUSE OF GUINNESS SEASON 2 CONFIRMED.”

That kind of enthusiasm should reassure fans that the principal cast is ready to return to the world of the series.

Netflix has not yet revealed a release date for Season 2, and production details remain limited. The streamer also has not announced the complete returning cast or provided specific information about how far into the Guinness family’s history the new episodes will travel.

Still, the renewal itself answers the biggest question facing fans after that explosive finale.

House of Guinness is not finished.'House of Guinness'.

And that is probably a good thing, because the first season left the family in a position where almost every relationship was under pressure.

The series also has plenty of room to expand its world. The first installment established the Guinness siblings and their immediate conflicts, but future seasons could explore their growing influence across Ireland and Britain while introducing new political, romantic and business rivalries.

The possibility of watching Arthur develop his political career is particularly intriguing. His ambitions could place him in direct conflict with people far beyond his family circle, potentially transforming House of Guinness from a family drama into an even broader political saga.

At the same time, the show will need to deal with the consequences of the Season 1 finale before moving too far into the future.

Who was Paddy shooting at?

Did Arthur survive the attack exactly as history suggests?

And how will the shooting affect the already fragile relationship between the Guinness siblings?

Those questions should provide an immediate hook when the series returns.

There is also the larger question of whether House of Guinness can become another long-running historical drama for Netflix. With Knight behind it, the potential is certainly there. Peaky Blinders demonstrated his ability to turn historical figures, criminal enterprises and family conflicts into addictive television, and House of Guinness is working with an equally fascinating real-world dynasty.House of Guinness: Season 1

The Guinness family provides generations of material, while the show’s fictionalized approach gives Knight enough room to build suspense around events that history buffs may already know.

For now, though, fans will simply have to wait.

House of Guinness Season 1 remains available to stream on Netflix, giving viewers plenty of time to revisit the family drama, political maneuvering and that unforgettable final gunshot before Season 2 eventually arrives.

After nearly a year of uncertainty, one thing is finally certain: the Guinness family story is far from over.
