The Gentlemen is about to return to Netflix, and fans already know they have another season waiting for them afterward. Guy Ritchie’s stylish crime series will make its comeback on September 3, 2026, with Theo James and Kaya Scodelario once again leading the action as Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass.

The second season will consist of eight episodes, all arriving on Netflix at the same time. But perhaps the most exciting part of the news is that viewers do not have to worry about this being the end of the story. Netflix has already officially renewed The Gentlemen for Season 3, giving the increasingly ambitious crime saga a future before its sophomore chapter has even premiered.

That renewal arrived on August 24, just days before Season 2 lands on the streaming service. While Netflix has not revealed what the third season will be about, the early renewal makes it clear that the streamer has confidence in the franchise and Guy Ritchie’s plans for expanding its world.

For now, however, the focus is firmly on Season 2, which promises to make Eddie and Susie’s criminal operation significantly bigger, more dangerous and more international.

When audiences first met Eddie, he was hardly the kind of man who looked destined to become a major player in Britain’s criminal underworld. He was an aristocrat who unexpectedly inherited his family’s estate following his father’s death, only to discover that the property was hiding a lucrative cannabis operation controlled by the Glass family.

Eddie initially wanted nothing to do with criminals. His priority was protecting his family and finding a way to remove the criminal organization from his land.

That plan did not exactly work.

Instead, Eddie discovered that he had a surprising talent for navigating the world of organized crime. His partnership with Susie gradually transformed from an uneasy arrangement into something much more powerful, with the two learning that their combined skills could make them a formidable force.

By Season 2, Eddie is no longer simply reacting to the criminals surrounding him.

He wants more.

The latest trailer makes that transformation particularly clear. Eddie now appears comfortable operating inside the criminal world, and his ambitions have expanded far beyond the English countryside. Alongside Susie, he is tasked with taking the group’s operation into international territory, setting the stage for a season that will dramatically increase the scale of the story.

Much of that expansion takes place around the Italian lakes, where the pair begin exploring new opportunities for the criminal empire.

But international expansion brings new complications.

The biggest problem may come from Bobby Glass, Susie’s father and the man whose criminal empire Eddie and Susie are now helping expand. Bobby’s increasingly unpredictable behavior creates tension within the organization, forcing Eddie and Susie to decide just how much control they actually want.

Their choices could determine whether their growing empire survives.

Matthew Read, who serves as showrunner and executive producer, has indicated that the relationship between Eddie and Bobby will be especially important during the second season. As Eddie’s ambitions become larger, the balance between the younger aristocrat and the established crime boss becomes increasingly unstable.

That creates an intriguing question for the new episodes: Is Eddie still working for Bobby, or is he slowly positioning himself to become his equal?

The answer could fundamentally change the power structure of the entire organization.

Kaya Scodelario’s Susie remains equally important to that dynamic. She understands the criminal world in ways Eddie initially did not, and her history with Bobby gives her a complicated relationship with the empire they are trying to expand.

The second season therefore isn’t simply about making more money.

It is about determining who gets to control the money, the organization and the future.

The returning cast gives the new season plenty of familiar faces. James returns as Eddie, while Scodelario reprises Susie. Daniel Ings is back as Eddie’s older brother Freddy, while Ray Winstone returns as Bobby Glass.

Joely Richardson also returns as Lady Sabrina, Eddie’s mother, alongside Vinnie Jones as Geoff, the family’s formidable groundskeeper. Jasmine Blackborow is back as Charly, while Harry Goodwins returns as Jack Glass.

Giancarlo Esposito also reprises his role as American billionaire Stanley Johnston, whose influence adds another layer to the increasingly international criminal landscape.

Michael Vu, Ruby Sear and Pearce Quigley are also returning.

The new season expands the ensemble even further, bringing in Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, Sergio Castellitto, Amra Mallassi and Tyler Conti.

Professional boxer Chris Eubank Jr. is also appearing, while Maya Jama makes her dramatic debut as part of the new season’s expanding cast.

Behind the camera, Ritchie remains deeply involved in the series. The filmmaker returns as director, co-writer and executive producer, sharing writing duties with Read. Eran Creevy also joins the directing team.

That creative continuity should reassure fans who enjoyed the distinctive tone of Season 1.

The Gentlemen has always been a strange combination of aristocratic drama, organized crime, dark comedy and stylish action. It takes the familiar Guy Ritchie formula of criminals, schemes and double-crosses and places it inside a world of British estates, inherited wealth and class politics.

That combination is part of what made the original series stand out.

The Gentlemen premiered on Netflix on March 7, 2024, and quickly established itself as a television extension of Ritchie’s cinematic crime universe. The series shares its setting and general mythology with Ritchie’s 2020 film of the same name, which starred Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Grant and Charlie Hunnam.

However, the Netflix series deliberately does not continue the stories of those characters.

Instead, it introduces an entirely new cast and narrative.

Eddie’s inheritance provides the perfect gateway into the world. His family’s estate turns out to be much more valuable than he expected, but not necessarily because of its aristocratic history. Beneath the respectable exterior lies a sophisticated cannabis trafficking operation that has been generating enormous amounts of money.

Susie becomes Eddie’s guide into that world, but their partnership eventually develops into something far more complicated.

The series uses that relationship to explore both organized crime and Britain’s class system. Eddie possesses the title, estate and social connections, while Susie understands the mechanisms of criminal power. Together, they represent two very different forms of influence.

Season 2 appears ready to push that contrast onto a much larger stage.

And with Season 3 already confirmed, the consequences of their decisions could extend well beyond the upcoming eight episodes.

Netflix has not announced when production on Season 3 will begin, nor has it revealed which cast members will return. There is also no premiere date yet, and plot details remain firmly under wraps.

Ritchie, however, is expected to remain involved as the series continues expanding its crime universe.

That makes the Season 3 renewal more than just a vote of confidence. It suggests Netflix sees The Gentlemen as a franchise capable of sustaining multiple stories rather than simply a one-off adaptation of a popular movie.

For fans, that is excellent news.

The immediate challenge is surviving Season 2.

Eddie and Susie are entering a world where the stakes are higher, the territory is larger and the people around them are becoming harder to control. Their criminal empire may be growing, but so is the number of people who could bring it crashing down.

And if Eddie really believes he can reclaim the power his family once possessed, he may discover that becoming a king of the underworld comes with a price.
